Key facts about hunger in India

India is home to the largest undernourished population in the world189.2 million people i.e. 14% of our population is undernourished20% of children under 5 are underweight34.7% of children under 5 years of age are stunted51.4% women in the reproductive age (15-49 years) are anaemic.

About 19 crore people in India sleep hungry every day. Such is the sad state of affairs. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), a UN body, 33 per cent of the food produced worldwide never actually reaches the plates of those who need it.

  • In the entire world, hunger has become the most significant problem that demands the immediate attention of one and all who can come up with better solutions to meet the daily food needs of underprivileged children and serve them lifelong happiness.
  • Most of us enjoy the delights of preparing mouth-watering food at home, along with going out for dinner. Unfortunately, millions of Indians are starving due to the scarcity of food for them, and they have to sleep empty stomach. The positive point associated with this matter is that issues pertaining to hunger are fixable.
Motive of MSS
  • We know it is not possible to feed each and everyone but even a little step counts. So, here we are with our little initiative with a big motto – “FOOD DRIVE”.
  • Through this initiative we will distribute food packets to the starving population to our fullest capability.
  • Our team members will be standing on the busiest cross roads or will visit poor residential areas to make the starving population available with the food packets.
  • The main motive of MSS is to have a decreased number of starving people in India.
